Environment & Social Responsibility

Living in the incredible natural environment that we do, we are aware of our impact and that it should be positive, protective and nurturing.

Environment & Social Responsibility

That is why we invest time, money, expertise and energy in playing our part. Beyond what we can do ourselves, we partner with and support initiatives that we believe make the biggest lasting positive impact to our corner of the world.

Working with the Manta Trust – we help to identify the rays so that their numbers and needs can be better understood. Our partnership with the Olive Ridley Project helps to rehabilitate marine life that is entangled in ghost gear.

At Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, we also offer nesting refuge to the Green Turtles – a species listed as ‘Endangered‛ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. This prevents poachers and predators from taking eggs and hatchlings so that the baby turtles make it to the open ocean.

Sharks also receive our help as part of the Sharkwatch conservation initiative. We encourage guests to add broken coral to our coral nurseries so that they may survive and even thrive. Last, but not least, when we or our guests fish, we fish sustainably using pole and line only.

Environment & Social Responsibility

Being affiliated with like-minded organisations gives us invaluable insight into the environmental issues faced by the Maldives. We share this information with our team, guests and communities on neighbouring islands to educate them and to raise awareness. To inspire the next generation of environmental ambassadors, we host field visits to create practical demonstrations for local school children.

We feel our responsibility and act on it every day. We are known for it not because it ticks a box but because we genuinely care.
