In the middle of the island is a special spot for our chefs; their very own garden where fresh basil, rosemary, eggplant, Scotch bonnet chilli and a selection of other herbs and vegetables are grown. Once a week, you can experience a signature Maldivian dinner at the garden, with our chefs taking you through each course as they explain the inspiration behind the exclusive menu. Make new friends and learn more about traditional Maldivian cuisine as you toast to tastes you have never encountered before.
Thulhaadhoo in Baa Atoll, just 30 minutes from Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, is famed for the lacquer work skills of its residents. These artisans are preserving a craft brought to the Maldives in the 17th Century. The pots, vases, ornaments and boxes are exquisite examples of indigenous artistry. Watching the makers work their creative magic is a fascinating insight into ancient craftsmanship. As you tour the island, taking in the many shops and mosques, you are bound to see locals preparing and cooking classic Maldivian delicacies. Essentially, taking a trip to Thulhaadhoo will give you the chance to see how locals genuinely live.
While in Thulhaadhoo, if you would like to join a local family for afternoon tea, we can arrange in advance for you to be hosted. In the home of a Maldivian family, you’ll receive genuine welcoming warmth, traditional sweet black tea and delightful snacks known as Hedhikaa.
