Celebrating the first anniversary of the Marine Turtle Rescue Centre

Mar, 26 2018

This February we celebrated the first anniversary of our Marine Turtle Rescue Centre in Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu. Opened in partnership with Olive Ridley Project, it is the first fully-equipped Marine turtle center in the Maldives.

With a full time veterinarian running the center, today we have treated 35 turtles and released 15 healthy turtles back to the wild. Currently, the Marine Rescue Center is home to 8 inpatients and some of them are still continuing their rehabilitation in other rescue centers around the Maldives.

Together with our partnership with Olive Ridley Project, we continue to fight the problem of ghost gear in the Indian Ocean through physical removal of nets, various education and outreach projects and by giving absolute care to injured turtles in our Turtle Rescue Center.

A huge thank you to our incredible guests of both Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu & Coco Bodu Hithi for their continued support & donations to the cause.
