Investing in our Planet

Apr, 28 2022

This April we marked Earth Day at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu with a full day programme alongside our in-house guests as well as our neighbours from Hithaadhoo and Thulhaadhoo.

School children and their teachers from the neighbouring islands visited us at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu to take part in activities such as the 100-palm tree planting project across our resort.

The students also took a moment to speak to our guests and associates about their personal pledges to lead a more sustainable lifestyle, as well as the sustainability initiative already being carried out in their communities.

Our partners from the Olive Ridley Project then gave the students a tour around the Marine Turtle Rescue Centre, before guests and associates alike took part in an island cleaning session.

Afterwards, the Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu team presented representatives from Thulhaadhoo and Hithaadhoo with a donation of 100 bags of organic fertiliser and 100 coconut palm trees to each island. This gesture was part of our larger commitment to forge a sustainable future together as a community.

The day concluded with a splendid buffet dinner on the beach, featuring dishes made using a selection of locally sourced, homegrown, and sustainable ingredients. Afterwards, guests were treated to a special bodu beru performance around the cosy bonfire.
